The Beginning

Since very childhood I am having some thoughts about films, but I used to think that its perfectly normal; majority of us dream to be an actor, singer or cricketer during childhood(I think it covers majority of Indian dreams !). I grew up, went though many phases of my life, but those thoughts kept lingering in some corner of my mind. So I decided to deal with them, I started analyzing more deeply and surprisingly very soon I realized that it was not about being actor, rather I was interested in the bigger picture, Film Making. I started to appreciate the individual parts: cinematography, sound/visual effects, acting, direction etc, I am not very familiar with terminologies involved here. And now I was watching movies with quite different perspective, I was noticing glaring fallacies being committed in movies, specially Bollywood ones, even in big budgeted produced by big houses. There are obvious flaws, why can't people see them. I feel cheated when I spent my 2 hours and 200 Rs on such films. I shared these very personal crazy thoughts of mine with my close friends and SURPRISE. It was not normal, people at my age usually don't have this much deep thoughts about this stuff. So what do I do now?  Am I really passionate about making films? weird, right? Anyway I think I need to do something about it and easiest thing that I can do is to go public about it. Let me tell you what I know about about film making. I have zero academic experience,  no practical experience and null linkages with people in this or even related field. But one thing I am sure is that I am very enthusiastic about it and I assume that there are people who are more or less in the same position as I am. I hope to come close to them and to start learning, discussing and actually doing something in this direction, like a short film  or something (sounds crazy, I know, I know, but unfortunately or fortunately I am serious about it). This was just crux of my thoughts, I will keep posting my views about various aspects of film making.

  1. Mr Dahiya....you posted a good thread and we all among public welcome your thoughts and opinion about the art of film making.
In my opinion, nothing is perfect so some small flaws during films are quite OK.
Like in Troy, there was a seen with a flying aeroplane in the background for the Movie seems to represent the ancient Greek-roman times.
And you may find several flaws like this, but at the end of the day, the take home message for a audience whether they enjoyed "being led" into another world or not....the so called term "REEL LIFE".

Please go ahead planning a movie on such thoughts, it's welcoming and sounds like a good use of your part-time.
    God Luck.

  2. Hi Puneet, thanks for going through it and commenting about it. Just to clarify, I am not talking about these small technical details of flying airplane in the background. Have you seen Mausam? they never met when they tried conventional ways, like calling or going home, but they always met in least possible situations. How can they audience to follow such non-sense, that is why people were laughing in their chairs when Shahid proposed Sonam. Anyway, I will posting soon my axioms about film making and your feedback will be highly appreciated.
    thanks again, enjoy...
